In this paper, we discuss the vacuum structure of QCD with two flavors of Wilson fermions, inside the Aoki phase. We provide numerical evidence, coming from HMC simulations, supporting a vacuum structure for this model more complex than the one assumed in the standard wisdom, thus coming in contradiction with the \chi PT predictions for the Aoki phase developed in the late 90's. We suggest a possible way to reconcile both of them in the conclusions.
